The Product
The Kapok Pillow is an all-natural luxury pillow that is hypoallergenic
and encased in 280-count thread cotton. Corie Laraya-Coutts
developed the Kapok Pillow and uses organic kapok fibre, a
natural product found in the Philippines, for the filling.
After the pods - and the silky fibre - of the tree are harvested
by hand, the fibre is meticulously cleaned and dried to provide
the ideal combination of softness and support in the pillow.
Unique
Qualities
The pillow is hypoallergenic. The filling provides excellent
support and the natural silky fibre retains its loft through
proper care making it durable and long lasting. The pillow
is easily cleaned - and rejuvenated - in the washer and dryer.
The pillow features high-quality 280 thread-count ticking.
The
Environment
With the development of the Kapok Pillow, Desalon International
Inc. is able to focus on environmental benefits, utilizing
forest resources as a technical and economic solution for
native farmers. The natural fibre used in the Ceiba Pillow
is harvested in an environmentally responsible and sustainable
manner, and production does not involve cruelty to animals.
After harvesting, the pod covers are composted to become organic
fertilizer. The company is negotiating with the government
and farmers in the Philippines to reforest marginal lands
with kapok trees.
